There are so many reasons to love wine! Different flavors, textures, and grapes. Different styles; bubbly, rose, white, red! Here I will share 4 simple reasons why I love wine.
1) There is a wine for each budget and occasion! I have tasted wines in many different price ranges and guess what? There are a lot of gems out there! Some are better than others, but the point is you don’t have to spend a lot to enjoy wine. For a casual dinner wine, it is easy to find a great bottle under $10. For special occasions, you might want to splurge!
For a great crispy white, that is budget friendly, my "go to" is Spanish Albarino Martin Codax.
When I feel like a splurge, I will look for a big Cabernet Sauvignon or Barolo. We'll explore all of these wines in upcoming posts!
2) Wine takes you on an adventure each time you have a glass. Simply close your eyes and imagine the journey that went into creating this lovely bottle. From the vine to the glass, each and every grape has been handled with care. Next time you taste a French wine, close your eyes and picture the lavender fields of Provence, or imagine the Tuscan landscape while sipping on a Chianti Classico.
3) Sharing with Friends and family: Wine bottles hold 4-5 glasses for a reason! Wine is meant to be shared. What is more fun that sitting around with a few friends and opening a lovely bottle? We often sit out by the fire pit to share a bottle of wine while we catch up on our day. Lately I have been sampling an array of wines, many I hadn’t tried prior to studying for the CSW exam. This has been a so much fun! My friends and family are enjoying the sampling as well! So whether drinking a crispy and tart white on a warm summer evening or a deep red around the fire, wine is meant to be enjoyed, savored, and shared with friends and family.
4) You don’t have to be wine expert to enjoy wine! Wine is fun, and there are so many varieties to try. Don't think of the rows and rows of wine at the liquor store as intimidating, rather think of them as an adventure! What will you find next? You don't have to know the difference between a left bank and right bank Bordeaux. Just try the wine to see if you like it! Truth of the matter is that the best wine in the world is the wine that you love the most. And through our journey together you will explore many new wines and perhaps find some new favorites!
Next time you open a bottle (or box), whether with friends or curled up on the couch with a good movie, think about the reasons you love wine and share them with us!
